Wear your Gucci jackets in three ways

Fashion Trends

At his second showing of Gucci’s ready-to-wear collection, Alessandro Michele sent a series of intricately-woven Gucci jackets parading down the Spring/Summer 2016 runway that was positively kaleidoscopic, leaving show goers with an aftertaste of saccharine posies.

Emulating 70s zeitgeist, the collection was quaintly nostalgic. Although intricate embroideries on a tough pair of leather jacket and rosy weavings on a man’s blazer would be thought of as contemporary sartorial feats, the companionship of sepia-filtered sunglasses brought us right back to the grounds of Woodstock.

There are no qualms then, that Alessandro Michele held no reservations in letting his zany creative loose this time round. Bomber jackets paid homage to the house’s notable red and green combo, lavished with interlaces that are so meticulously achieved you won’t be able to pick a thread out of it even if you tried.

Everything But The…

On blustery Summer days, wear your medium weight jacket like you would wear your shirts; however, ensure that the cut is tasteful and not too telling of the lingerie you’ve chosen for the day.

Size ‘Em Up

If you are investing in a lightweight bomber jacket this Summer, get it in a size bigger. That way, when frigid weather comes around, constricting layers will be the least of your consternation!

Draping It

Heavyweight jackets aren’t inexorably barred from Summer fashion because there’s a trick to pulling them off in the heat — drape them over your shoulders with zero fuss till Winter calls for a thicker husk!

Alexa Chung is launching her own collection- Alexachung- so what can we expect?

Fashion Trends

We've had Alexa Chung for M&S, Alexa Chung for AG jeans and Alexa Chung for Madewell. Then there was the smash hit 'Alexa' Mulberry bag released in 2009, and not forgetting the countless, 'I want what Alexa Chung's wearing' moments. Today comes the next stage in Chung's quest for world wardrobe domination; a collection all of her own which will be called Alexachung.

This is what we know so far about Alexachung. The collection will be 'contemporary' prices, which means somewhere between high street and designer. Chung told Business of Fashion that, “I’m not making something that has got a crazy high price point. I want to make sure its something that is speaking to just everyone on the street.”

Pencil the launch date May 2017 in your diary now when you'll be able to buy Alexachung at Matchesfashion.com, Selfridges, MyTheresa, Galeries LaFayette and SSENSE. Chung, 32, has already hired a design team of six who have backgrounds in music, art and fashion. One of her team, Edwin Bodson, comes from Haider Ackerman, a Parisian brand which fashion insiders love for its cool tailoring and easy opulence (which are incidentally also big features in Chung's own wardrobe).

Love It or Leave It: Louis Vuitton Twist MM with Braid Work Detail

Fashion Trends

When I first started PurseBlog, I was super into Louis Vuitton. I remember getting my name on the list and securing a few sought after bags, including the Watercolor Speedy (which was only $1,270 when I bought it in 2008!). I didn’t fall out of love with Louis Vuitton, I just moved on a bit. I got hooked on Hermès then went through a major Céline addiction as well. But lately I’ve been drawn back to Louis Vuitton and I’ve been eying the Twist.

As with many other popular bags from the brand, the Louis Vuitton Twist comes in a variety of different options. One of the newest versions of the Louis Vuitton Twist MM caught my eye with the braid work on the bottom corners that is reminiscent of baseball stitching.

Along with the braid work, the bag features lambskin leather, Epi leather, the now iconic LV Twist lock, and a double-strap chain to carry. The dimensions of the MM are 9.1 x 7.1 x 3.1 inches. If you give the bag a closer look, you can see where the grained Epi leather meets the smooth Epi leather which is separated by braiding. The interior is lined in microfiber with leather trim and features an inside compartment and flat pocket for a pull out mirror.

While I do think the next LV bag I’ll purchase will be some version of the Twist, I don’t know that this is the Twist bag for me. What do you think, love it or leave it?
